GIANT WRATH DECIDING IF HE SHOULD LET A SHIPWRECKED BOY ESCAPE

Cornish mythology contains many giants who were mostly terrifying and deadly to humans. Wrath was believed to have lived in a large sea cave near Portreath from which he used to attack passing ships by throwing rocks at them; then he would steal their treasure and eat the crew. Wrath, or Wroath, is an old Cornish nickname for an angry person. Over the years Wrath became Ralph and his cave known as Ralph’s Cupboard.

Many years ago the roof of Ralphs Cupboard collapsed and what remains is a steep sided inlet with bit of beach now popular with grey seals.
